Udaipur Travel
What Venice is to the west, Udaipur, the city of lakes, is the most romantically exotic spectacles of the east. Maharana Udai Singh II founded Udaipur in 1568 after his citadel Chittorgarh was sacked by Mughal Emperor Akbar. For Akbar it was the most humiliating victory as there were no prisoners of war to fetter; thirty thousand Rajputs laid down their lives (jauhar) rather than sacrifice their freedom.

Udaipur embarked on the finest architectural and cultural explosion shaping in the middle of Pichola Lake the Lake Palace on Jag Niwas island complimented further by the grand City Palace rambles across four acres, surrounded by Aravalli hills. The hilltop Sajjangarh Fort, the monsoon palace, commands a magnificent view of the city besides lakes Fatehsagar and Jaisamand, initially the world’s biggest artificial lake. The picturesque beauty of the city with numerous places of interest with history is hard to encompass in words!
